Vincent Matal, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and community stalwart, passed away peacefully in Raleigh, NC, on June 16, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on December 30, 1940, in Astoria, NY, Vince lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication, service, and love.

Vince’s journey began in Queens, NY, where he was raised with values that would guide him throughout his life. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University, Vince served honorably as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. Vince then embarked on a remarkable career with IBM that spanned nearly three decades, allowing him to travel the world and leave a lasting impact in the tech industry.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Vince continued his professional journey by retiring as President of Talis Management, where his leadership and vision were felt by all who had the pleasure of working with him. Even in retirement, Vince’s passion for service never waned; when he wasn’t playing golf or watching his beloved Duke Blue Devils, he dedicated his time to volunteering at Leesville Middle School helping struggling middle-schoolers as well as at Wake Tech, teaching English as a second language enriching the lives of countless students. He also served as a valued volunteer with his neighborhood HOA.

Vince was not only a man of professional success but also of community spirit. As a dedicated member of the Raleigh Sports Club, he served as Treasurer, ensuring the club thrived under his watchful eye. Vince's generosity, integrity, and unwavering dedication earned him the respect and admiration of everyone he encountered.

Beyond his accomplishments, Vince was a true gentleman who gave 100% in everything he did. His love for his family was boundless, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, June Matal, who was his partner in all things, and his sons, Vincent Matal III (Doris) and Eric Matal, who carry forward his values and spirit. Vince is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Megan Mitchell (Joe), Sally Matal and Madison Matal and his great-grandson, Vincent Eugene Mitchell, whom he lovingly and affectionately called V4. He was predeceased by his father, Vincent Matal, Sr., and mother, Elizabeth Matal (nee Matejik), whose memories he always honored.

Vince’s life was a testament to the power of commitment, love, and community. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever guide those who knew and loved him.

A Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 4:45 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Renaissance Funeral Home on Six Forks Road.
