Susan (Susy) McCord Guilford, 64, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2025. Born in Italy, Susy moved to the US to study at University of South Florida. While living in Tampa, she met her to-be husband. Jay and Susy married on July 5, 1986. Jay and Susy were married for 39 years and enjoyed traveling together. One of her most favorite trips was sailing around the BVIs with her family in 2022.

Susy made her home in Raleigh where she has lived for the past 35 years. One of her greatest joys came from spending time with her family and friends—whether gathered around the table sharing a home-cooked meal or learning to make pasta with her friends. Her kindness, humor, and nurturing heart touched all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Susy was preceded in death by her father, William McCord. Susy is survived by her husband, Jay Guilford; her children, Jeff Guilford and Lizzie Guilford. She is also survived by her mother, Maria Luisa McCord and her brother, Andrea McCord.

A memorial service to honor Susy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Renaissance Funeral Home in Raleigh, North
Carolina, followed by an open house at the family home. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the LUNGevity Foundation, which supports research and awareness for lung cancer.
