Sovika Thapa, age 37, passed away on Thursday, August 27th, 2026.

Sovika was born on October 4th, 1988. She was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina alongside her three sisters. Growing up, she was a talented artist who loved to draw and paint. She was also an avid reader who loved books and had a passion for learning. She loved spending time with her sisters and they shared many happy memories in their childhood filled with laughter.

She graduated from Enloe High School and attended college at UNC Wilmington before transferring to NC State University. Always the ambitious student, she graduated from NC State in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science, Summa Cum Laude in Biological Sciences.

After meeting her future husband, Bhishma, she moved to Texas. In 2015, she and her husband welcomed the joy of their life, their daughter, Avana. Sovika loved to cook and bake, do arts and crafts activities, and read with her daughter.

Sovika was a strong and determined woman. Her strength and courage was seen in how she faced the most difficult times of her life, even to her last day.

Sovika had a kind and loving nature. Throughout her life, she was a loyal, loving, and devoted daughter, sister, and wife. Above all, the role she cherished the most was being a mother.

The warmth of her love was felt by all those who knew her. She loved her family with all of her heart and without reservation.

Sovika is survived by her daughter Avana Adhikari; partner Bhishma Adhikari; her mother Sakuntala Thapa; her sisters Sanju Thapa, Sonisa Matlock, and Binita Thapa; her uncle and aunt Ram and Sulochana Khadka; and her cousin Rejina Khadka.

Her family will continue to honor her memory and her beautiful spirit. She will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
