Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Dedicated Wife, and Public Servant

Silvia Gonzalez, 80, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on October 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with dementia. A woman of strength, grace, and unwavering dedication, Silvia leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and resilience that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Born on December 4, 1944, in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico. Silvia devoted her life to both her family and her community. She served as the Director of Housing for the federal government, where her work helped provide stability, dignity, and opportunity for countless families. Her leadership and compassion made a lasting impact on the lives of many, and her commitment to public service remains an inspiration.

Beyond her career, Silvia was a devoted wife. She married Pablo Gonzalez on October 29, 1965 where they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. She was a nurturing and selfless mother to her three children, and a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She approached family life with the same dedication she gave to her work — always present, always giving, and always putting the needs of others before her own.

Silvia’s strength was quiet but powerful. She guided her family with wisdom, stood by her loved ones through life’s challenges, and showed by example what it meant to live with purpose, dignity, and kindness.

She is survived by her husband, Pablo Gonzalez, her three children, Lissette, Sylvia and Pablo, and her grandchildren, Samuel, Christal, Joshua, Jose and Steven, all of whom were the joy of her life. Also, her great grandchildren, Dylan, Bryan, Angelina, Lucas, Cole, Ethan, Emilia and Callum. Her love, guidance, and laughter will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain forever in their hearts.

A funeral service will be held by the family in honor of Silvia’s life and legacy on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2pm at the Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
