Robert Thomas “Bob” Ball, 82, of Raleigh, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
Bob was born on December 6, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Clifford Thomas Ball and Dolorita Daly Ball. Bob moved to Farmingdale, New York at a young age where he was an alter boy at St. Killians Catholic Church. He also was a caddy at Bethpage Black where his love of golf began.
He was in the United States Navy for 3 years working on the USS Regulus, based out of San Francisco. After his military work, Bob went to college in the evenings and earned his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Hofstra University. He worked in the electronics industry ever since.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with his many friends and colleagues. Bob was a kind, loving man who never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor who would often light up a room. He would offer such great advice to his children and grandchildren and was always looked up to.
He is survived by his children, Greg (Jessie) Ball of Chandler, AZ; Dana (Paul) DiSands of Coatesville, PA; and Tara Ball of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter Emily, and grandsons Joshua, Kaleb, and Jason (including his grand dog Lucy who he loved as well!). He is also survived by his niece Victoria and son Simon from St. Augustine, Florida, which he has a great bond with; as well as other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11am, also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association at Lung.org.

Bob was kind, smart, sophisticated and would give you the shirt off his back. He had a 'Heart of Gold'! Bob was loved by many friends and his family. It was an true honor to have a friend like him. He will be greatly missed. Bob share your great smile!!

Bob was one of a kind. A legend in our business and one of my best friends. We shared a lot of great times over the years amongst our group. Fairways and Greens only Robert!!

Oh! I forgot one great thing about Bob. He always hosted our community Christmas gathering....year after year. So generous!!

Bob was my neighbor on Boathouse Court for a good number of years. And a great and friendly neighbor he was! Every time I saw him, I got a big shout out, and often a greeting from his big dog Bailey (which in Bob's NY accent sounded to me like "Belly"! Haha!) I also got to know Tara much better when we both worked at Springmoor. I am living there now, Tara. My love, condolences and prayers for all of you. I know Bob will be greatly missed!
