Robert “Bob” Edward Sears II, affectionately known as Grandpa Scott, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on October 1, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on April 16, 1955, in Beaufort, SC, he was a beloved son of the late Robert and June Sears.

Bob graduated from Jacksonville High School in North Carolina. He dedicated over 30 years of his career to the Great Outdoor Provision Company, where what started as a job grew into a community of lifelong friends.

Bob was generous with his time, knowledge, and gifts. Whether sharing advice, lending a helping hand, rewarding a coworker’s dog with a treat from his desk, or surprising loved ones with thoughtful presents, his sincerity left a lasting impression on the people around him.

His grandsons knew him as Grandpa Scott. He was an avid fan of their sports, showing up at games wearing team colors to cheer them on. He taught his son and grandchildren the art of fishing, creating cherished family memories by the water.

He had a deep love for the mountains and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He liked music from a range of artists like the Beatles, Adele and Luciano Pavarotti and famously disliked mayonnaise and mashed potatoes. He had a fondness for historical fiction and sci-fi books, martial arts movies, classic comedies and Westerns.

He is survived by his son, Robert Edward Sears III (Julia) of Holly Springs, NC, and his grandchildren, Jack Edward and Evan James. He also leaves behind two brothers, John (Betty) Sears and Mark Sears, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s honor to any of the following organizations: the Youth Financial Aid Fund for the North Carolina FC Youth soccer club; Conserving Carolina; and the American Heart Association www.heart.org/en.
