Prentiss Rodney Wilson, 89, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025. He was born on July 30, 1935, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to Verna and Prentiss Eugene Wilson.

Rod earned a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, where he served as president of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He began his illustrious career at the Chicago Tribune and went on to work internationally and domestically for several companies including Monsanto and Texas Gulf. He retired as Senior Vice President at PCS Phosphate, remembered for his leadership and dedication.

Rod is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna Marie Wilson; sister Jackie Wilson of Olney, IL; sons Mark Wilson; Matthew (Laura) Wilson of St. Louis, MO; and Rodney (Crystal) Wilson Jr. of Raleigh, NC. He was a proud grandfather to Sarah (Ryan) McAlister of Greenville, SC; Blake (Audrey) Wilson of Huntsville, AL; Molly (Josh) Boardman, Grey, Kate, and John Wilson of St. Louis; and Grant and Lauren Wilson of Raleigh. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Lillian and Michael McAlister of Greenville, and Tommy Boardman of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Wilson; his brother, James; and his sisters, Virginia and Rosemary.

Rod’s life was marked by his deep love of his family, his fondness for long walks on the beach and sunsets, fishing trips, and golf outings. His warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Springmoor Endowment Fund, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. A private celebration of life will be held in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri.

Rod’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will forever remain with those who were fortunate enough to know him.
