Moussa Deeb Saad, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 24, 2026 at the age of 93 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Born on February 6, 1933 in Damascus, Syria to the late Deeb Saad and Ramza Roummieh, Moussa was most passionate about family, education, philosophy, and poetry. An educator of higher education and psychology, he nourished generations of dedicated educators over four decades. He loved socializing and meeting new people across cultures, engaging in competitive chess and backgammon matches, and learning new languages. His simple pleasure was drinking his morning coffee while listening to his favorite singer, Fairuz. An avid bookworm, he enjoyed reading philosophical works from his favorites Epicurus and rehearsing verses from famed poets Gibran Khalil Gibran, Nizar Qabbani, and Walt Whitman. Spending quality time with his family was his greatest joy.

Moussa is survived by his wife, Rosette Lutphy; children Mary Kisswany (John), Deeb Sudd (Rima), Sammy Saed (Sue), Reem Saed (Nabil), Lama Ballouz (Samer), and Nicolas; grandchildren Raymond (Zillah) and Carol Kisswany, Amir (Asil) Laktineh and Yara (Mario) Rahal, Stephanie (Vince) Trovato and Steve (Rachel) Saed, Dena, Tara (Mackenna), and John Ballouz, Sama, Rosette, and Joseva Sudd; and great-grandchildren Corinthia, Ella, Jude, Luca, Lilith, Noah, and Sophia. In addition to his parents, Moussa was preceded in death by his sisters Nadimeh, Adeebeh, and Wahibeh.

As we bid farewell to Moussa Saad, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose and achievement, and an unwavering commitment to family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 6-8pm, at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615. A second time of visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00am, at Saint Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church, 600 Mt Vernon Church Rd, Raleigh, NC 27614. The funeral service will begin after the visitation at 12:30pm. Burial will follow the service at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612.
