Mindy Rose Ladd
The world lost a bright light on November 11, 2025, when Mindy Rose Ladd passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a life-long and heroic battle against cystic fibrosis.
To know Mindy was to know joy, someone whose positive outlook on life defied the many health challenges she faced over her 51 years. Her infectious laugh was notorious and often heard ringing from the tennis courts at her local club where she was known as a fierce competitor and one who valued the friendships forged there. Mindy had a legion of friends who were blessed to be part of her tribe and touched by the rays of her sunshine spirit.
Growing up outside of Columbus, Ohio with two older brothers, Mindy learned to be tough at an early age. She excelled both academically and athletically leading her basketball, volleyball, and track high school teams. Her resilience and tenacity also made her a strong advocate for her own health and that of other CF patients. After initially being denied a double lung transplant, she remained hopeful and continued to persist until doctors at UPMC recognized her strength and granted her wish. Those lungs allowed her to live 15 more years – time she filled with as many memories as possible. She enjoyed walks on Wrightsville Beach, tennis and pilates, getaways with girlfriends, and spending time with her family.
What was most precious to Mindy was her family. On a magical day in 1998 at Sears in Columbus, Mindy first ran into Michael who became her husband of 26 years. She often described him as “the funniest man I know.” They soon welcomed a beautiful daughter, Abigail, into their family. After a move to Chicago, they eventually settled in Raleigh, North Carolina. If there was one thing that drove Mindy to fight every day, it was her deep desire to be there for her family. Watching her “little peanut” blossom into an amazing young woman was Mindy’s greatest joy.
Mindy was the daughter of Joseph and Elsie Snively. She was preceded in death by her father and her brother Joe. She is survived by her devoted husband Michael, their daughter Abigail, who she often called her “mini me,” her brother Shane, her sister-in-law Susan, and her nieces Elyssa, Camryn, Sophia, and nephew Samuel.
Mindy’s zest for life was contagious and a lesson for all of us. Savor every moment. Give hearty hugs. Let out belly laughs. Celebrate with a mimosa even when the score might not call for one. And share your light with all those around you. That was Mindy’s gift to us all.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18th from 5-7 p.m. at Renaissance Funeral Home. A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, November 19th at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, Raleigh, NC. A private burial will be held after services.

Those of us that were blessed to have Mindy choose us and love us owe it to her legacy to live life loud as she did. Live every moment as though it's your last..enjoy even the smallest of lifes treasures. I truly believe Mindy would tell us to live life to its fullest, love as passionate as possible and never ever take anything for granted. Rest easy high on that mountain our Mindy Rose. I feel much safer knowing you're watching over us.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Mindy's passing. To be her nurse over the last 7 years was an absolute pleasure. While are relationship was professional, Mindy became a friend. I would often get caught up in her room chit chatting and before I knew it, an hour passed. We talked about our families including our fur children. I have a husband with CF, we had a lot in common. I adored Mindy's bubbly personality and will miss her. To her family, I am so sorry. You have an angel watching over you. She fought with so much courage until the end. While I am saddened by her loss, I am glad she can now breathe easy. 💜

Mike, Abby, and Family, We were heartbroken to hear of Mindy's passing. We can only imagine the depth of your loss and we want you to know that our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Mindy faced cystic fibrosis with such courage and strength, and her memory will remain a source of inspiration to everyone who knew her and her journey. We hope you find comfort in the love you shared and in the support of family and friends who care deeply for you. Please remember you are not alone.
