Timothy Michael Gross, born October 4, 1981, in Greensboro, NC, passed away on Friday, February 27th. He was raised in Greensboro, NC and later the Metro Atlanta area, where he built lifelong friendships and developed his passion for sports.

Michael was a standout student-athlete in high school where he played varsity basketball, baseball and tennis. He graduated from Walton High School in Marietta, GA.

He continued his baseball career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he pitched for the Tar Heels while earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Following his collegiate career, Michael was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals organization and spent two seasons pitching in the minor leagues.

After his time in baseball, Michael built a successful career as a professional IT recruiter, where his work ethic, ability to connect with people, and natural charisma helped him thrive.

Outside of work, Michael loved golf, cooking, and traveling whenever he could with his beloved wife and children. His incomparable talent in the kitchen was a reflection of the love he felt for all lucky enough to have a seat at his table. One of his greatest joys was coaching his son’s baseball teams. Michael had a vibrant personality and a quick wit, and he will always be remembered for his sense of humor and the joy he brought to those around him.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Renwick Merrell and Cora Merrell, Earl Gross and Mary Gross; and his uncle, Jim Merrell.

He leaves behind his wife Jordan, son Jackson, daughters Kennedy and Alex, parents Tim and Susan Gross, and sister Natalie, a loving family, dear friends and coworkers, former teammates - his band of brothers, and countless others whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.

A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, March 24th at 5:30 pm at the North Carolina Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill, NC.
