Michael Daniel Lynch, Jr.
Michael Daniel Lynch., Jr. of Raleigh, NC passed away on February 5 from complications due to late onset Alzheimer's disease. Michael was born in Baltimore, MD, the son of Lena Agostine Lynch and Michael Daniel Lynch, Sr. He attended Mount St. Joseph High School then went on the University of Baltimore, where he earned a B.A. degree in Business Administration.
Michael joined the Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970, after which he was honorably discharged. Michael then joined the Army Reserves in 1980, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 25 years of service. During his time in the Reserves, he received multiple awards for outstanding
achievements, including the Army Commendation Medal for exceptional performance. Michael was a true patriot and a proud Army veteran.
Michael is survived by his wife, Brenda Dalton of Raleigh, NC; sisters Judy Gill and Shirley Buttion of Baltimore, MD; nieces Sarah McMillan of Raleigh, NC and Tracy Kapperman of Gretna, VA; nephews Daniel McMillan of Raleigh, NC, Brian Dalton of High Point, NC and Michael Dalton of Danville, VA.
One of Michael's passions was serving the community. He was a member of several service organizations over the years, where he was involved with the Special Olympics, the Angel Christmas Tree Program, the Tammy Lynn Center, and USO at Raleigh Durham Airport. He was also a member of North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Incorporated (NCVVI}, a group very close to his heart. He often participated in events honoring veterans and remembering POW-MIA soldiers.
Michael was a kind, thoughtful man with a zest for life and loved his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 3:00pm, the family will be greeting guests for an hour prior to the service. After he will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.

Hi - this is Jeff president of the Raleigh Coin Club. We are just learning of Mike's passing and offer our sincere condolences for your loss. Each year at our show, for which Mike was a dealer for many years, we have a memorial table to honor those who have passed in the previous year. If we could get a photo of Mike and some details on his coin business (name, years as a dealer, etc) we will add him to our memorial table for this year's show. On a personal note, for many years I did the kids program for the club and Mike was always kind and helpful with numismatic donations for the kids. May his memory be a blessing. Death is something that no one can heal and memories are something no one can steal. Mike definitely made a difference to many; especially with has fellow veterans, students across the nation and the Special Olympics. He will definitely be missed as he made all of us better. I am so sorry about Mike, I know he was suffering a lot. Last time I saw him he could hardly move, his mouth moved and he put pressure on my hand, so I know he knew I was there. He was a great friend and a loyal member of NCVVI. We we all miss him
