Maureen Cronin
Maureen Cronin, 68, of Durham, NC passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025 while traveling overseas. She was born on January 15, 1957 in Dorchester, MA, daughter of the late Edmund and Mary Marks. Maureen was a devoted spouse to Francis Cronin, with whom they shared 43 years of marriage – a partnership rooted in faith and love. They raised two sons – Francis Cronin (wife Pauline Cronin) of Raleigh, NC and Mark Cronin of Walpole, MA. A nurturing and loving Nana to her two grandchildren – Gabriella and Benjamin Cronin both brought immense joy to her life.
She was one of many siblings and shared a particularly close bond with sister Danielle McGrath, whose love and support were constant throughout her life. While blessed with many dear friends, Maureen shared a special lifelong friendship with Liz Pinske, who remained a source of strength and companionship. Maureen is also survived by many extended family members – nieces, nephews, cousins – and by a host of friends who will miss her kindness and words of encouragement.
Maureen worked at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA for over 40 years before retiring and moving to NC. Country line dancing, knitting, completing puzzles, playing dominoes, and trying new healthy recipes with family were some of her favorite hobbies. Traveling with family and friends was a passion of hers, and her favorite vacation was the annual family beach trip.
Visitation is Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road in Raleigh, NC, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M. with Celebration of Life Reception at Carolina Arbors Piedmont Hall (Varsity Room) 357 Carolina Arbors Drive in Durham, NC at 12:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.

Thinking of you Maureen as I sit here about send off a Christmas card to only Mr Francis Cronin and not Mr and Mrs Francis Cronin. You will be remembered as truly selfless woman who humbly did so much for family and friends. I remember being gifted a trip to Alaska with Mark on YOUR anniversary. How gracious you were coordinating all the meet ups, dinners, excursions, silent disco HAHAHA.. Seemingly effortless you made it look! I know that is not an easy feat! Then you arrived back in Canada onward to NC.. how did YOU end up with CoViD? Ugh! One day Maureen, I will gather enough courage to attempt your famous cauliflower pizza crust and your holiday festive cheese ball that everyone loves! I am so very sorry for the terrible loss of my aunt Maureen. Maureen's greatest joys were being a wife and a mom and of course becoming a grandmother. She was completely devoted to her family. My heartfelt and deepest sympathies to my Uncle Frannie, my cousins Mark, Frankie and Polly, and Maureen's two treasures Gabby and Ben. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Rest in peace we love you and we will miss you ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Frank, My deepest condolences on the loss of Maureen. Her Gantley cousins have been reminiscing about our shared childhood. We all grew up together and have great memories. She survived our family trip to Florida in 1973 like a champ! My heart goes out to Mark, Frank, Pauline and the grandkids. Such a big loss for all. Franny Gantley
