Marilyn Gamm Caple, 80, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025. She was born on September 30, 1944, in Mt. Clemens, MI, to the late Lawrence and Kathryn Gamm.

Marilyn was a lifelong servant-leader in faith, family, and community. She graduated from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL, and spent much of her life nurturing others through teaching in public, private, and Christian schools. Her gifts also extended beyond the classroom—she worked as a bookkeeper, office manager, and professional secretary in both the construction and healthcare fields. To all who knew her, Marilyn was the embodiment of kindness, grace, and generosity—a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and child of God.

Marilyn was a devoted member of every church family she joined. Her quiet strength and active faith were evident in the many roles she embraced: choir member, bell ringer, Sunday school teacher, council member, and humble volunteer. She regularly visited shut-ins and nursing homes and gave her time and care to support Montagnard immigrants. Worship, Bible study, and service were cornerstones of her life.

On December 12, 1964, Marilyn married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Caple. Their life together was marked by love, partnership, and shared purpose. They raised their family in Austintown, OH, before settling in Raleigh, NC, where they owned and operated a small general contracting company. Marilyn and Bob also played in local community bands—Marilyn on clarinet—and formed deep, lasting friendships wherever they went.

Marilyn’s early life was shaped in West Branch, MI, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from West Branch High School in 1961. After marrying Bob, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family, raising three children who became deeply connected to Marilyn’s Michigan roots.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Kathryn; her mother since childhood, Lucille; and her brother, Rodger.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Bob; their children, Tracy (Keith), Vicki (Alan), and Rob (Kim); grandchildren, Brittany (Jeremiah), Devin, Caleb, Joel, Stephen, Tyler, Robbie, Collin, and Andrew; and great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Octavia. She is also survived by her siblings, Ginny, Cookie, Debbie, and Shelia.

A memorial service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at St. Philip Lutheran Church, 7304 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615. Inurnment will follow the service, with a reception in the fellowship hall afterward. All are welcome to join in remembering and celebrating Marilyn’s beautiful life.
