Margaret Mary "Mimi" Brogan
Margaret Mary was 100 years of age on October 4th, 2024 and passed 8 months later on June 4th, 2025. Margaret Mary was born in Ecorse, Michigan to James Hughes & Anna Lozen Hughes. She was one of 14 children and loved her brothers and sisters.
Margaret Mary started a family in Michigan. She had 5 daughters by the age of 26. She was passionate about raising her family, decorating new homes and collecting antiques. She also loved cooking and sewing quilts, and many of them are in different countries.
She was a kind and loving soul with a wealth of wisdom. Her love for family was treasure by all. Margaret Mary often said, “Be kind to everyone" and "Time is a thief”. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. May her spirit rest in peace and may God be with her.
Margaret Mary is survived by her brother, Richard Hughes of Michigan, and her 5 daughters: Sandra Jean (Steve LaBarbera}, Janet Ann (Larry Hartwell), Margaret Mary (Stan Stewart}.Gloria Jane Guarnieri, and Marilyn Kay Maria (Arden Thomas).
Grandchildren: Laura (Doug Govan), Jason LaBarbera (Teresa), Jeremy LaBarbera (Kelley), Julie (Michael Ducatte), Lawrence Hartwell (Eydie), James Anthony Sarcia (Julie), Renee (Jason Domingos), Carisa (Joseph Tierney), Anthony Guarnieri, Aaron Thomas (Renee).
In memory of Ron J. Gerlach, Marty Hartwell, and his son, Andrew Hartwell, who pre-deceased their Grandmother, Margaret Mary.
Margaret Mary Hughes Brogan is survived by 19 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren and 2 on the way.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 9th, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Renaissance Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC with burial to follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Mother, Today, we celebrate the incredible life of a remarkable woman—a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother and a great great grandmother a guiding light, and a source of boundless love. For 100 years, she graced this world with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering strength. As a mother of five daughters, she embodied patience, resilience, and an endless well of kindness. She nurtured each of her girls with love, teaching them the values of compassion, perseverance, and the importance of family. Her home was always filled with laughter, lessons, and the aroma of home-cooked meals that brought everyone together. Through the decades, she witnessed a changing world, yet her heart remained constant—a steady anchor in the lives of all who knew her. She celebrated joys, overcame hardships, and inspired generations with her grace and wisdom. Her legacy is not just in the years she lived but in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she created. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her daughters, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. -Tenli Sarcia In loving memory of "Mimi," a truly remarkable woman who lived to be 100. Mimi had a beautiful spirit and a heart full of kindness. She shared that love with us in thoughtful ways—like the quilts she made by hand. Every time I pull one out, which is often, I think of her warmth and generosity. She remembered us in her prayers, something she mentioned in her letters to us, and that has always meant so much to me. It's hard to put into words just how deeply that touched my heart. Mimi left a lasting impression far beyond her immediate family. From the many stories shared by her grandchildren, it's clear she created countless cherished memories and touched lives in the most meaningful ways. She was dearly loved by all who knew her. I feel truly blessed to have known her and forever changed by her kindness. May she rest in peace.
