Luke Gerald Reed
Luke Gerald Reed, 69, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Born on December 6, 1956, in Poughkeepsie, New York, Luke was the son of Luke C. Reed Jr. and Carol Callahan Reed. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1975 and earned his Associate of Arts degree from Hudson Valley Community College. Luke built a successful career in corporate security, holding leadership roles at IBM, Solectron, Lenovo, and First Solar, where he served as Global Security Director. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply loving grandfather.
Luke loved deeply and lived fully—whether cheering on the New York Giants, encouraging his children from the sidelines at a track meet or soccer game, or sharing laughter and stories with friends. Some of his happiest moments were the simplest: bike rides at Hilton Head, reminiscing about old times, or playing with his grandchildren.
He lived a life marked by patience, fairness, calm, and kindness. Ever ready with a gentle word of wisdom—“patience is a virtue” or “always take the high road”—Luke embodied the values he cherished. His steady strength, quiet wisdom, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Luke is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Reed; his daughter and son-in law, Teresa and Chris Carver; his son and daughter-in-law, Lieutenant Colonel Michael and Theresa Reed; and five cherished grandchildren: Emerson, Scout, Kennedy, Weston, and Cal.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
