Justo Pérez, born on August 6, 1927, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, to Margarita Ramos Maldonado and Eleuterio Pérez Vélez, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, surrounded by family.

In 1948, Justo moved to New York, where he met and married the love of his life, Socorro, on December 30, 1950. Together, they raised two children, Justo Jr. and Nancy. He worked as a foreman at the Art Steel Company for 35 years, providing a steady foundation for his family and community.

A devoted member of St. John Chrysostom Church in the Bronx, Justo lived out his faith as a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and the Holy Name Society. As a Secular Franciscan, he embraced a life of humility, prayer, and service. His daily devotion to the Rosary and deep love for the Virgin Mary were a constant source of strength and peace.

Known by all as a kind and good man, Justo was admired for his old-fashioned charm, sharp outfits, and signature hat. He had a quiet wisdom and a warm heart, always offering a calm presence to those around him. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he found joy in their company—and even in the playful antics of Rocky, the family dog, who often received secret treats from him.

Justo is preceded in death by his beloved wife Socorro, his son Justo Jr., and his siblings José, Alberto, David, Américo, and Lucy. He is survived by his daughter Nancy, son-in-law Henry, daughter-in-law Migdalia, and his cherished grandchildren Melanie, Heather, and Sebastián.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Raleigh, NC, on July 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of a man who quietly inspired so many.
