Judith Johnston Sulentic
Judith Johnston Sulentic, 79, of Youngsville, NC; passed peacefully in her sleep at home on the morning of Saturday, February 7th, 2026.
Judith was born November 3rd, 1946 in Nashville, TN, to Ewing and Taimie Johnston. Judith attended Joelton High School with the Class of ’64, and married her husband John David Sulentic on June 3rd, 1967.
During her 79 years of life, Judith was a force of nature known by all around her as a beacon of light and joy, warming any room graced with her presence. She stood by her husband with love and strength for 58 years, demonstrating to her family and friends the epitome of a wife and mother. Until the day she died, she was the ever-present and ever-cheerful matriarch of her family; and adored spending time with her grandchildren, especially if it involved cards or a board game. One of her favorite quotes was “It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” Above all, she was a devout Catholic and fervently believed in her Savior.
Judith is survived by her husband John; sons David, Matthew (Catherine), Bradlee (Christine), and Bryan; daughter Heather (Robert) Greene; and eight loving grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Joyce Jackson, June Jakes, and Janice (Jim) Phillips.

I worked with Judy for over 20 years on NCSU campus. We went to lunch often and had long talks about family, politics, and life in general. I missed our lunches after she retired. She was a very special friend with the biggest smile. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Josie Bloom
