Judith Campbell Barton
Judith Campbell Barton, age 89, of Raleigh passed away on July 25, 2025.
Judith was born on December 1, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Edward Campbell and Blache Patton Campbell. She graduated from Ridgefield Park High School and then worked for Western Electric in New York City. She attended night school at Fairleigh Dickinson University and graduated with her Bachelors Degree. She met Jim while working in NY and they were married in 1966. They moved several times but finally landed in Raleigh in 1983. Judy was passionate about Senior Games and medaled multiple times in basketball and tennis. When not on the court she was active in the church and often on the sidelines of her grandchildren's various sports and activities.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother Bobby and sister Connie.
Judith is survived by her husband, James Madison Barton; daughters Lucienne Gold and Jeanne Guilliams; and sons Joel Barton, Byron Barton, and Ed Barton.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613. Mass will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA or your local animal shelter.

I count myself lucky that I knew Judy for many years. It took me quite awhile to fully appreciate what a special person she was. There aren't many people around who do as much for others as Judy did. When I was working at St. Francis, I always knew Judy would be ready to help anyone who gave her a call. She was a woman of many talents, great love for others and a willingness to share both. The world is bit poorer now without her, but heaven has been enriched. - Pat Kowite

I remember Judy & Jim well as wonderful "pilgrims" on Saint Francis of Assisi Parish's very first Franciscan Pilgrimage to Italy in 2005. Great travelers and terrific people. May Judy rest in peace. 💙🙏💙 Laurette Benton Wilmington, NC

Our neighbor of almost 30 years, I have only fond and happy memories of Judy. I loved helping out with Peaches and Lizzie in my preteen years. Jim and Judy were kind enough to let my brother and I play, build, and climb in their woods. And there were many times of need where my family turned to Jim and Judy to care for our home and pets. I am grateful to have known and loved Judy. Holding you all close in my prayers and heart in the time ahead. Wishing you joyful memories as you celebrate the life of a wonderful woman.
