James Michael Marsh
James Michael Marsh, 73, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026. Born May 26, 1953, in Owensboro, Kentucky, James was the son of William Bruce “Billy” Marsh and Mary Charles Potts. He grew up in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, where he began a life filled with family, friendship, music, and a love of learning.
James was a proud graduate of Murray State University, where he earned his undergraduate degree, and the University of Kentucky, where he received his master’s degree. He went on to build a successful 37-year career with IBM, where he worked as an IT Architect. His intelligence, dedication, and commitment to his work were hallmarks of his professional life.
Outside of work, James had a passion for singing that brought him great joy throughout his life. He shared his beautiful voice with many choirs around the city, including Master Choral and the church choirs of Our Lady of Lourdes, Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Raphael, and St. Francis. Music was much more than a pastime for James. It was a way he connected with others and shared a part of himself.
James also loved volleyball and enjoyed playing in various work and recreation leagues. He loved being active, spending time with friends, and being part of a team.
Perhaps nothing made James happier than being near the water. He treasured time spent with family at their lake house at Nolin Lake and especially enjoyed the beaches of North Carolina. These places provided him with some of his favorite memories and moments of relaxation and joy.
James will be deeply missed by his beloved husband, William R. Lundrigan; his sisters, Debbie Coyle (Roger) and Kim Jessie (Paul); his brother, Mark Marsh (Rhonda); his sister-in-law, Marianne McKeon; and his many nieces and nephews, whom he loved with all his heart. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother Chuck.
He will also be remembered fondly by countless friends, colleagues, fellow singers, teammates, and all those whose lives he touched.
James leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, music, friendship, and cherished memories. He will be remembered not only for the life he built, but for the love he gave so generously to his family and to the many people fortunate enough to know him.
May he rest in peace, surrounded forever by the music, water, family, and love that meant so much to him.
