Georgia Karen Weiss, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on December 19, 1943, in Buffalo, NY, she lived a life rich with love, care, laughter, and a profound sense of community.

Georgia was a resident of Baldwinsville, NY, for 45 years. Her husband, Paul, was her high school sweetheart. She partnered with him at the Paul T. Weiss Agency as an associate agent with Nationwide Insurance, where her warm spirit and friendly smile brightened people’s day. Upon retirement in 2013, Georgia and Paul moved to Raleigh, NC, to escape the harsh upstate New York winters and be closer to other family. They were married for 48 years when Paul passed; he was the love of her life, and she his.

Georgia was a vibrant woman who cherished life and creativity. Her passion for boating led to many joyful days spent on the water with family and friends. Her spirit flourished through the calming arts of painting, particularly her whimsical wooden spoons, as well as knitting and crocheting. She also loved spending her time reading, diving into classic movies, and challenging herself with crossword puzzles.

Georgia was also known for her love of antiquing, visiting museums and attending plays, and gathering with her friends and family for spirited card games. Her interest in family history and her skill in scrapbooking allowed her to preserve cherished memories for her extended family. Her culinary skills shone brightly during family gatherings; there was often a “secret” ingredient or cooking technique involved in Georgia’s kitchen.

Throughout her life, she was continually learning and teaching about her faith but also was a living example of it. She was very active in her upstate New York parishes of St. Augustine's and St. Mary’s, teaching the Catholic faith to youth and serving on parish councils and fundraising committees. As a parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh, she was able to meet and positively impact many more people.

Georgia is survived by her beloved children, Caryn Schrader and David Weiss; her brother, Daniel Petri, and her sisters, Sharon Leppert and Linda Duch; her son-in-law, David Schrader, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Weiss; her grandchildren, Loren and Hannah Weiss; and her step-grandchildren, Olivia Popovich and Jackson and Ben D’Ambra.

Her final visitation, funeral, and entombment next to her beloved Paul will be held at St. Mary’s church at 10 am on Saturday, October 25th, 2025.

In her passing, Georgia leaves behind not only a loving family, but also a legacy of faith, thoughtfulness, creativity, and a zest for life that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
