Deborah O'Donoghue Baltz
With great sadness we announce the passing of Deborah O'Donoghue Baltz, 71, of Raleigh, NC on August 8, 2026 in her home.
A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Raleigh, NC on Monday, August 17th, 2026 at 11:00 AM. All are welcome, and for those who are unable to attend there will be a livestream available.
Deb was born in Charlotte, NC on January 11th, 1955 to Richard and Patsy O'Donoghue. She graduated from South Mecklenburg High School before receiving an associate degree from Lees McRae College and then an associate degree in dental hygiene from Central Piedmont Community College.
Deb was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother, devoted Catholic, skilled cook, talented racket sports player, avid reader, animal lover, passionate fan, and professional hygienist. Her immense gifts and vibrant personality will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
Deb is survived by her husband, Scott, her children Cass and Cory, her daughters-in-law Ashley and Mimi, her two grandchildren Carter and Lewis, her siblings Michael, Steven, Patrice, Pam, William, and Mary, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Deb had a magnetic personality that would attract everyone around her. She had the natural ability to make people feel special. She lived a life in service to others and cherished her time with family and friends.
Deb will be missed dearly. We are all thankful for the time we had with her.

A bright light is gone, but her memory will live forever. We met in 8th grade in Charlotte and went through high school together, experiencing more adventures and fun together than anyone should have. We stayed for a month together when we were 16 in Washington DC (we had to beg her father to let us stay on the promise of visiting the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception - we never made it). Trips to Atlanta, Greensboro and visiting my sister at Wake Forest followed. Debbie's spirit and joy of life brought fun to every adventure. A lighter soul never existed and she made our teenage angst years a delight. We reconnected after marriages and babies with the other friends in our "Faithful Five" Carolina Cougars Fan group. 40 years disappeared as we laughed even harder at our high school stories and caught up on families, careers and how lucky we were to have such beautiful friends. Debbie brings a smile to my face when I think of the fun we had, her zest for life, the strength of her faith and the love of her family. I will miss her.

Deb was our God given gift as the perfect mother in law for our daughter Ashley. She not only welcomed her into the family but cherished her like a daughter. She was the ultimate grandmother who loved her grandsons who in turn love her immensely. Our lives have been greatly blessed by being in her presence and we will always find joy as we remember her and the way she loved her family and even us "co-grandparents". We will continue to pray for Scott, Cass and Cory as they celebrate Deb's life and mourn their and our loss.
