Carolyn May Harris

LIVESTREAMING CAN BE VIEWED ON THE FUNERAL HOME YOUTUBE CHANNEL. The livestream will not begin until 2:00pm.

Carolyn May (Van Meter) Harris passed away peacefully at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, on the afternoon of January 6, 2026.

Carolyn devoted her life to creating a warm, loving home for her husband of 67 years, Jerry, and their two children, Craig and Kevin.

She worked many jobs in many locations over the years, making some of her closest friendships through her time at the North Carolina Partnership for Children, an organization with a mission she fully embraced.

Like her mother before her, Carolyn loved watching hockey, and she was a loud, loyal, and optimistic fan of the Carolina Hurricanes since their arrival in town in 1997.

Nothing brought Carolyn more happiness than fostering a loving environment for family, friends and neighbors. This nurturing spirit extended to all living things, and for over 85 years, she poured her heart into caring for farm animals, pets, lush backyard gardens, and a house full of thriving plants.

Carolyn was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a junior high school basketball player, a Cub Scout den mother, a soccer mom, a Christian, a creative cook, a better artist than she believed herself to be, a lover of cats, and a hater of birds. She was a force for compassion, positivity, and justice in this world, and will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held on January 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation immediately following at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615.

Flowers are not needed, but donations may be made to a memorial family fund in her honor at https://gofund.me/90a0d1e2c.
