Beverly Joan Saunders, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. She was born on October 8, 1931, in Montreal, Quebec, to Agnes and David Glenny. She was one of five children and is predeceased by her siblings Clifford Glenny, Eileen Tobin, Dorothy Ryan, and Carole Saunders. All the "Glenny girls" were especially close.
She met her beloved husband, Keith Saunders through her sister Carole who had married his brother Donald. He was also from Montreal but had moved to New York. He frequently would come up to Quebec to ski with his brother and friends, and they began dating. They married in 1967 and she moved to New York. However, she remained a proud Canadian who kept her citizenship despite living in the US for decades. Once Keith retired, they made the move to North Carolina where the weather was more temperate for golfing.
Beverly was an active and cherished member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh. Starting around 1988 until her passing, she served in many roles—receptionist, wedding coordinator, and most recently as part of the team assisting with offertory collections. Her dedication to her parish reflected the kindness and steady presence she offered to everyone around her.
She also maintained an active lifestyle, especially enjoying Tai Chi and yoga classes at her local gym and walking her daughter's dog at the park; she treasured her independence. Usually every week she was meeting one friend or another for lunch. She was known for her exceptionally warm and giving nature, her love of being around people, and the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life.
But some of her happiest moments were spent traveling with her daughter, Charlene—journeys that took them across the country and around the world, creating countless memories they treasured together. A favorite was spectating at the bigger equestrian events around the world, from Kentucky to Germany, France and the UK as well as trips back up to NY.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Charlene Saunders; her son-in-law, Todd Tansky; and her stepdaughter, Felicia Saunders.
A memorial Mass to honor Beverly’s life will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh on Friday, December 5th, at 11:00 a.m.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

Beverly was a steward with boundless energy giving her time and talent generously at the Catholic Community of St. Francis during my years as pastor. She was a great partner in ministry as a welcoming receptionist and a detail oriented yet joyful wedding coordinator. I so enjoyed working with her. My heartfelt condolences to her family. We were so blessed to have shared special times with "Bev", who we met through our friendship with Charlene and Todd. We don't remember a time when she wasn't smiling - truly a woman who loved life and being with family and friends. We will miss Bev but have faith she is being celebrated in heaven.
