Loving mother, grandmother and wife, Belinda was born in Wuxi, a city about an hour outside of Shanghai. Due to the Sino-Japanese war, the Wang family moved to Taiwan when Belinda was young. Growing up in Taipei, Belinda became fluent in Taiwanese as well as Shanghainese and Mandarin, and she studied French and English in school. She majored in English at Providence College in Taipei and passed advanced exams to qualify to study in America. Belinda moved to Atlanta, where she received her master’s degree in library science and met her future husband, Che Lam.

Upon graduation, Belinda joined Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC as a librarian. After moving to Greensboro, NC and raising two children, Belinda resumed her career at the library in the Reference Department of the Greensboro Public Library for over 25 years. She focused on tailoring services to Special Needs patrons and sat on many organizations during her time there, such as the Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities, NC Council for the Deaf and the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Other Voices program. She loved to help others find the answers to their questions, soak up new knowledge, and was an astute and resourceful researcher.

Belinda enjoyed music, was a talented singer and could play piano by ear. She loved to garden and with her green thumb, had a special knack for nursing weak plants back to health. Belinda also enjoyed traveling and seeing the world, taking trips and tours to visit various European countries, Mexico and Asia.

After battling Alzheimer’s disease for the past ten years, Belinda passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026. She is survived by her husband, Che Lam of Greensboro, NC, son, Wally Lam of Raleigh, NC, daughter, Tiffany Lam-Balfour and son-in-law, David Balfour, granddaughter, Genevieve Balfour and grandson, Xavier Balfour of Lafayette, CA.
