Barbara Ann (Jayjohn) Chesson passed away in her home on August 27, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born in Dayton, Ohio on February 2, 1936, Barbara was the daughter of Ethel Francis (Gray) Jayjohn and Emmitt Edward Jayjohn. She grew up in Dayton and Columbus, Ohio.

Barbara wanted to see the world, so she joined the Air Force in 1954 and was stationed at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California. While stationed at March AFB, she met her soulmate and the love of her life, Douglas Chesson, also a member of the Air Force.

Barbara and Doug were married in 1956 and lived happily together for forty-four years until Doug’s passing in 2000. They raised four marvelous children and enjoyed living in a variety of places as a military family before settling down in Goldsboro, NC in 1973.

Barbara worked in a variety of retail positions before retiring. Later in life, Barbara and Doug thoroughly enjoyed traveling all over North America with friends and family.

Barbara was exceptionally loving, compassionate, positive, and very generous. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and being around family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Barbara is survived by her four children, Steve, Lisa, Scott (Gail) and Clint, and her beloved grandchildren, Madison, Alex, Patrick, and Kevin.
