Dougal St. Norman Mair was born December 22, 1930 in Port Antonio in Jamaica. At that time Jamaica was still a colony of Great Britain making him a British subject. He graduated from Cornwall College there, (a boys’ high school) and came to the United States to attend Howard University where he was an outstanding swimmer and a goalie on their soccer team. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and made the United States his home.

Dougal had a career for many years as an accountant and auditor. Dougal retired as an accountant in 1999 and moved to North Carolina to be near his sister, Floreth. He is survived by a son, Stephen. He was preceeded in death by his brothers Keith, Jackie and Wally and is survived by his sister, Floreth and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and grandchildren. Dougal loved soccer, cricket, the Carolina Panthers and politics.

A service will be held at noon on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Renaissance Funeral Home in Raleigh.
