Obituary For Anthony DiMaggio

Tony was born at home, the son of Anna Maria Mazamutto and Vincenzo DiMaggio. At 21, he married the love of his life, Lucia “Lucy” Macaluso. For 61 years, they lived life to its fullest. They raised two children: followed by being one of the most active seniors around. Tony was blessed with 90 years of an active healthy life. He continued to be an active handyman, (even working outside of the home) through age 89. When in their home in New York, Tony and Lucy traveled with the local senior group. When in North Carolina, they were busy with grandchildren and the St. Francis Senior Group. Tony was an eternal optimist. The glass was always half full for Tony. Soft spoken and always full of common sense advice, Tony had more friends than anyone I have ever met.

Tony is predeceased by his wife, Lucy, and two siblings: Morris and Connie. Tony leaves behind a brother: Patsy DiMaggio; two children: Vincent DiMaggio (Cheryl DiMaggio) and Marianne DiMaggio Heston (Grand Heston); four grandchildren: Vincent DiMaggio Silber (Douglas Silber), Michele DiMaggio Eisenburg (Spencer Eisenburg), Michael Heston (Samantha Heston) and Christopher Heston (Allyssa Jeffries, to be married on Nov. 17). Also, Tony was blessed with two great-granddaughters, Evelyn Heston and Addison Silber.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 am with a viewing and visitation one-hour prior at the St. Mary of the Angels Chapel at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Rd. Raleigh, NC, US, 27613.

Services for Mr. DiMaggio will continue in Hunter NY. First visitation will occur at Aston-Basagic Funeral Home at 7742 Main Street, Hunter NY 12442 on Friday, November 9th from 2-4pm and a second visitation from 7-9pm. The graveside service will occur on November 10th at 11:30am at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in Elka Park, NY.

Instead of flowers, Tony would have loved to support the Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation at www.lustgarten.org or the Smithfield Hospice House at https://johnstonhealth.org/locations/secu-hospice-house
