Michael Patrick Ferguson

Michael P. Ferguson ("Mike" or "Fergie"), age 71, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2026, when a tree fell on his family home during a severe storm in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mike was born on May 27, 1955, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was raised in Jacksonville Beach and graduated from Fletcher High School, Class of 1974.

On September 23, 1989, he married the love of his life, Katie (Kathleen Rollins), in Neptune Beach, Florida. Mike and Katie made their home in Jacksonville before relocating to Raleigh in 2006.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mabel Ferguson; his sister, Annie; his brother, Roy; and his parents-in-law, Jim and Judy Rollins.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Katie; his four daughters, Stephnie, Sarah, Caroline, and Haley; his granddaughter, Maddie; his sisters, Patty Hill of Ohio and Rosie Smith of Jacksonville; his sister-in-law, Debbie Doran (Dave); his nephew, Brian Doran (Brandea); and his great-nephew, Austin.

Mike adored his wife and daughters and treasured every moment spent with his family. He never met a stranger, never passed up a good bargain, and would gladly give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. A lifelong Florida Gators fan, he also had a passion for fishing and a deep appreciation for great seafood.

For more than 30 years, Mike worked delivering propane throughout Jacksonville, the Beaches communities, and Raleigh. Later, he began a second career with Harris Teeter, where he enjoyed working in the produce department and connecting with customers and coworkers.

Share memories of Mike and visit with his family on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Renaissance Funeral Home and Crematory, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Mike's honor to The Nature Conservatory (Oceans Program). As the family is currently displaced due to the storm, your support and kindness are especially appreciated.
