  Grandma will truly be missed. I was a caregiver for Cody-man when he was about 8 yrs old and formed a bond that lasted. After I moved from NC we still spoke often. Thankfully I have voicemails to replay that always started ... "hey suga, it's Grandma" 🙂. Praying for all her loved ones.

  Kelly (Walker) Shepard

  Marion was like a grandma to me, however she was also a dear friend. Our relationship began at Capital City Church, where we were paired up for nursery together & spent one Sunday a month together getting to know each other & keeping all the littles happy during the service. This started when I was in middle school, and continued until I moved to Wilmington for college. Over the years afterward, we never lost touch and have remained friends and kept up via cards, mail, and phone calls. I think most of the time she continued to write me cards, she could barely see, but I was alway able to interpret her writing. (Her notes always started, "Hey sug!" and it always made me smile!) Marion was the most God-loving, joyful, kind-hearted soul I've ever known. She was always full of so much love & joy, no matter what life threw at her. She would tell me she would say aloud, "Go away, Devil! Go away!!" When he would try to interfere in her joy. She always trusted in the Lord and his plan for her. When we would chat, she would have music or hymns playing in the background. After Stan passed, she would tell me stories, and always mentioned her & Stan dancing together in their home. Often, she would also have Cody beside her during our calls, and she would put him on the line to tell me, "I love you!" I could always hear the smiles on both of their faces! Marion was always so full of joy & love. She's an inspiration to me on how to live a full and good life. Marion was an angel, and anyone that has met her and known her is truly blessed. While I grieve her loss here on earth, I know that she is now spending her time in Heaven, and I can only hope I use everything I've learned from her to have such a meaningful impact myself. I pray for all of her family and friends that are also grieving at this time. God bless! -kelly [walker] shepard

  Louise Klouda

  I have know Marion since I was a little girl, our parents were good friends. We grew up going to Hyde County as friends to visit the Panes( Nellies parents) grandparents of Marion. We had so much fun and a strong friendship that has lasted thru the years. I will surely miss her she heart of gold. Louise Ellis Klouda

  Sharon

  We met 24 years ago and hit it off immediately. We shared many laughs together and we talked about anything. I learned so much from you. You could ALWAYS find the good in every situation. I will always remember our "talks" and trips out to eat. The patty melt at Briggs was your favorite. And, that infectious laugh. I can still hear it now. Your kindness for others was unmatched. The phone calls, the cards and letters. Many will miss you and I am included. I thank God he allowed us to meet. I will forever carry you in my heart. Fly high my sweet friend. So long for now. Until we meet again.
