Bonnie Jo “Beejie” Funderburke Sutton passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, June 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family and friends who were blessed to know her.

Born to Joe and Bonnie Funderburke of Charlotte, North Carolina, Beejie lived a life defined by faith, kindness, music, creativity, and an unwavering love for others. She possessed a rare gift for making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her warm smile, encouraging words, and compassionate heart left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.

Beejie was a gifted concert flautist whose love for music filled every chapter of her life. She also enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and writing poetry, using her talents to bring beauty, comfort, and joy to those around her. Whether through a song, a poem, a conversation, or simply her presence, she had a remarkable ability to uplift others and remind them of life’s blessings.

Above all else, Beejie loved Jesus. Her faith was not merely something she professed - it was something she lived every day. Family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers experienced the love of Christ through her actions, her generosity, and her genuine concern for others. She believed in encouraging people, seeing the good in them, and inspiring them to carry that same love and kindness into the world.

Beejie is survived by her devoted husband, Billy Sutton; her beloved children, Shelley, Billy Jr., Jesse, Brady, and Lindsey; her cherished sisters, Kathy and Sandra; her treasured grandchildren, Dominick, Alana, Kinley, Rylie, and Carmen; and her adored great-grandchildren, Cassius and Rowan.

Though her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and is resting in the eternal presence of the Lord she loved so dearly.

Beejie’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her faith, music, compassion, and love. She taught those around her to be kinder, love deeper, and trust more fully in God’s plan. Her influence will continue to be felt for generations to come.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
